Logo Design Contest — Entry Agreement, Release, and Rights of Use
By submitting a design to Maynards Holiday Parades Logo Design Contest, the participant agrees to the following terms:
1. Original Work
The participant represents and warrants that:
The submitted design is the participant’s original work.
The participant owns all rights necessary to submit the design.
The design does not copy, infringe upon, or violate any copyright, trademark, privacy right, publicity right, or other legal right belonging to another person or organization.
The design does not contain stock artwork, copyrighted images, protected fonts, artificial intelligence-generated elements, or other third-party materials unless their use has been disclosed in writing and the participant has obtained all necessary commercial-use rights.
The participant accepts responsibility for any claim arising from materials included in their submission.
2. Rights Granted for All Entries
By submitting an entry, the participant grants Maynard Holiday Parade a worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive license to review, display, reproduce, publish, and share the submitted design for purposes related to administering, judging, documenting, and promoting the contest.
This permission includes displaying the participant’s name and design on websites, social media, printed materials, press releases, public displays, and other contest-related communications.
3. Ownership of the Selected Design
As a condition of being selected as the winner, the winning participant permanently assigns and transfers to the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee all rights, title, and interest in the selected design, including all copyrights and other intellectual-property rights permitted by law.
The Maynard Holiday Parade Committee will have the unrestricted and exclusive right to:
Use, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, advertise, and promote the design;
Modify, edit, redraw, resize, recolor, simplify, combine, animate, or otherwise adapt the design;
Add or remove words, symbols, colors, or other design elements;
Register the design as a copyright, trademark, service mark, or other protected property;
Use the design for commercial and noncommercial purposes;
Place the design on signs, merchandise, apparel, packaging, websites, social media, advertisements, publications, promotional materials, and any other media;
License, transfer, or authorize others to use the design; and
Use the design indefinitely, worldwide, without further approval, payment, compensation, royalties, or notice to the participant.
The winning participant agrees to sign any additional documents reasonably necessary to confirm or register this transfer of ownership.
4. No Guaranteed Attribution
Although the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee may publicly recognize or credit the designer, it is not required to include the participant’s name whenever the design is used.
5. No Obligation to Use a Design
Submitting an entry does not guarantee that the design will be selected, published, or used. The Maynard Holiday Parade Committee may choose not to select a winner, may select more than one design, or may decide not to use the winning design.
Selection as the winner does not require the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee to use the design in its original form or to use it at all.
6. Contest Decisions
All eligibility, judging, selection, disqualification, and interpretation decisions made by the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee are final. Entries may be disqualified if they are incomplete, late, inappropriate, unlawful, copied, misleading, or inconsistent with the contest requirements.
7. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the participant releases and holds harmless the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee, its officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, sponsors, judges, partners, and affiliated organizations from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses connected with:
Participation in the contest;
Submission, review, display, publication, modification, or use of an entry;
Acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of a prize;
Technical problems, lost entries, delayed entries, or unauthorized access to a submission; or
A participant’s violation of another person’s intellectual-property or legal rights.
The participant agrees to indemnify and defend the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee against third-party claims resulting from the participant’s breach of this agreement or from materials included in the participant’s submission.
Nothing in this agreement excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
8. No Additional Compensation
The participant will not receive additional compensation, royalties, licensing fees, or other payment for the submission, selection, modification, publication, or use of the design.
9. Participant Information
The participant gives the Maynard Holiday Parade Committee permission to use the participant’s name, submitted biography, photograph, statements, and general city or town of residence for contest announcements and promotional purposes, unless prohibited by law.
For participants under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must approve the entry and sign this agreement.
10. Acceptance
By submitting an entry, checking the agreement box, the participant confirms that they have read, understood, and voluntarily accepted these terms.
